Saratoga Springs
The intersection of historic and artistic
First they came for the city's namesake mineral springs, and then for horse racing—the Saratoga Race Course is the oldest continuously-operating sporting facility of any kind in the United States. But throughout, it was the creative vibe that called artists of all mediums to this city in the Adirondacks. Yaddo, an artists' community, was founded in 1926 on a 400-acre Saratoga estate to nurture the creative process in a quiet, supportive environment. Today, Downtown Saratoga Springs is a celebration of the myriad achievements of these legends in literature, music, visual, and performing arts.
