To connect with other avian fans, head nearby Huntington. Huntington is about 40 minutes south of Stowe and has two great birding destinations. The first is the Green Mountain Audubon Center where you'll find 250-acres of protected land with 5 miles of trails to explore. There are trails through the woods, swamps, and along the Huntington River, providing a variety of bird habitats in which to see different species. You can expect to see geese, ducks, owls, hawks, sparrows, woodpeckers, and many, many more types of birds. The Audubon visitor center is a great stop to check in about recent sightings on the property and to join a guided bird walk.

While you're in Huntington, don't miss the Birds of Vermont Museum. This unique collection will intrigue any birder or nature lover. With over 500 intricately carved bird statues, many set in realistic activities and habitats, this collection is a labor of love of just a few dedicated craftsmen and women. Explore the collection and the grounds—there's a network of trails around the museum through native plantings.
