There's no reason to mourn the end of summer when it's followed by a glorious Southern Maine fall, complete with foliage, festivals, and fun. One of our favorites is Harvest Fest, taking place on Saturday, October 10. This family friendly fair has all the seasonal trappings (more on that in a minute) but also the added benefit of taking you slightly off the beaten tourist path to the other side of the 'Bunks in Kennebunk proper. So hop in your car, venture across the bridge, and get ready for a true Maine celebration just a few miles from your base at Captain Fairfield Inn.
From 9:00am-2:30pm, Main Street in downtown Kennebunk will be transformed into an authentic autumn wonderland complete with a farmers market, sweets and treats, arts and crafts, kids activities, and a massive costume parade with a ghoulish twist. Participants are encouraged to dress up like the walking un-dead as a nod to the haunted holiday coming up on the calendar. After the creepy crawl down the main drag, rock out to live music by the Ketch Fish Band on the plaza.
