 Block Island North Light

Block Island North Light 3.8 miles

Block Island North Light was built on Sandy Point in 1867 and established to mark the entrances to Block Island Sound and Long Island Sound. There are five rooms of exhibits each showcasing a particular piece of maritime history. The lighthouse is a prime location for seal and bird watching, rock collection, and sunset views.

 Mohegan Bluffs

Mohegan Bluffs 1.6 miles

The Mohegan Bluffs are large clay cliffs about 150 feet high, located on the southern shore of Block Island. climb down the steep staircase of over 100 steps and view them from the beach. Visitors usually spend the day here tanning on the beach, swimming in the ocean, walking their dogs, or simply admiring the cliffs.

Unfortunately, the bluffs are not handicap accessible. It's also important to note that the waves are rough and it's recommended that only strong swimmers test the waters.

 Block Island Wind Farm Tours

Block Island Wind Farm Tours A short walk away

The Block Island Ferry offer ocean tours of America's first offshore wind farm. Persons get a narrated tour of Block Island's 30 megawatts, 5 turbine wind farm spanning over 600 feet above sea level. Tours are approximately 1 hour long.

 Clay Head Nature Trail

Clay Head Nature Trail 2.4 miles

190-acre conservation with many intertwining hiking trails called "the Maze" and with beautiful views of clay bluffs and the ocean. Also, a great place to see lots of songbirds!

 Scotch Beach

Scotch Beach 1.1 miles

Scotch Beach is the best place for young adults and teens to “see and be seen”, with wide-open stretches of white sand and volleyball nets always set up.

 South East Lighthouse

South East Lighthouse 1.5 miles

South East Light is one of two lights on the island (the easiest to access). It sits atop Mohegan Bluffs and offers some amazing views out over the Atlantic, including the island’s best perspective of the new Block Island Windfarm located three miles offshore.
