Tips for Biking in Provincetown

Provincetown and its surrounding beaches are so easy to get to by bike. Between the congested summer traffic and the perfectly pleasant weather, there's good reason to ditch the car and take a bike for a spin this summer. Next time you're on a lark to our boutique Provincetown hotel AWOL, enjoy these tips for biking in Provincetown. Bring your own bike, rent one from the local bike rental shop, or borrow one of our hotel's Solé cruisers and start exploring this vibrant Cape Cod town.

If you need rentals or a tune-up, start your day at Provincetown Bike Rentals. Here you'll find hybrid bikes, cruisers, mountain bikes, and even electric bikes for rent. Affordable rates mean you can take your time exploring the Cape, and these rentals come with all the accessories you need. Borrow one of the shop's great bike trail map that point out scenic attractions within pedaling distance.

From the shop or the hotel, the Province Lands Bike Trail is a great afternoon activity. At 5.5 miles long, it's the perfect length for a leisurely bike ride, and you can easily add in a stop at the beach. The trail is paved, but it's more challenging than you may think with short steep hills and curves that wind through the sand dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Follow the whole trail and you'll see the area's famous dunes, cranberry bogs, a beech tree forest, and inland lakes and ponds. Trail extensions will take you to Race Point Beach, the lighthouse, and Life-Saving Station Museum at Race Point. Herring Cove Beach is a short bike ride north from AWOL, and you can access the bike trail from here too.

Our Provincetown boutique hotel is open for the season, so book your Cape Cod getaway soon. Once you're here, you'll love exploring Provincetown by bike. Pedal through town, grab a lobster roll, and enjoy it on the pier during your next summer getaway to this jewel of a Cape Cod town.
