History

First built as a private home in 1881, the property’s original brick facade, slate roof, and exterior marble staircase remain. Overflowing flower and herb gardens are the centerpiece of the sprawling, manicured lawn in front of the house. Each space at Blind Tiger Burlington is decorated with more than 75% handmade, antique, and one of a kind furnishings complimented by unique works of art collected carefully over the past decade. Some guest rooms are equipped with gas fireplaces while many boast original mantles and architectural detail. Several rooms include comfortable seating areas with antique leather wingback chairs and others have separate living areas with sofas, reading nooks and work (or art) areas.

Mixed use gathering spaces include a jungle-like solarium with an original green and white-veined marble floor and mature plants. A monochromatic dining room, stripped down to its original plaster walls, is adorned with a massive singular piece of textured art atop a hand painted nook. The fully stocked pantry is complimentary to guests, including small batch snacks and drinks available at any hour. Finally, a barroom, stocked with handmade shrubs, garnishes and tinctures, is situated beside a living room with a fireplace and an eight- piece 1970s Swedish leather sectional – the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail or afternoon tea.

Blind Tiger properties pay homage to their city’s cultural and culinary ties through the eyes of some of its most influential tastemakers. That continues with this new house, where each room features thoughtful touches from a local “host,” providing access to unique perspectives on how to best explore and enjoy the locale.
